Replacing a cracked concrete driveway
When an old slab has cracked, heaved or sunk, we break it out and haul it off, then build the paver driveway on a new base made for the ground underneath.
Old driveway cracked or holding water? We build a paver driveway on a base made for your ground, so it holds up under your car.

Driveway pavers in Fresno are interlocking concrete pavers laid over a compacted base, so the pieces lock together under the weight of your car instead of acting like one big slab.
A lot of the driveways I look at are old concrete that's cracked, sunk at one end or holding water after a rain. What moves the price is the size, whether the old driveway has to come out, how deep the base needs to go for your ground, whether it needs drain pipe, and the pavers and pattern you pick. The schedule mostly turns on the tear-out and the weather, because wet ground has to dry before we can pack a base on it. I'll walk it with you and give you the price in writing.
I've run this company since 2013, and I still come out, look at how your ground drains and write the price myself, so the person pricing it knows what the job needs.
Our own crew does the work, and a lead mason runs the site from the dig-out to the last sweep of joint sand, so one person is answerable for every layer.
If only one section of your driveway has failed, I'll tell you so. I'd rather point you to a small fix that will do than sell you a whole new driveway.
Under a driveway the base and the drainage matter more than the pavers you see, so the first thing I do is look at how your ground drains and where water sits. Then we have the underground lines marked, dig out to firm ground and build the base up in layers, packing each one down so it holds up under a car. Where the ground holds water, we plan a way for it to get out of the base before we go any higher. We set an edge along the sides so the pavers stay put, spread a thin, level bed of sand and lay interlocking pavers made to carry a car. Last, we pack them in, sweep sand into the joints and clean up.
If your driveway runs along a slope or sits above the yard, the soil at its edge usually needs holding back, and we can build that into the same plan with our retaining wall construction. When older brick steps, planters or garden walls next to the drive are crumbling, our masonry restoration work brings them back so they don't look tired beside new pavers.

Pavers make it easy to widen a driveway for a second car, and the new section ties into the same pattern and border, so it doesn't look added on later.
A pad next to the garage or along the side yard gets the same base and interlocking pavers as the driveway, because it carries the same weight day after day.
We can carry the same pavers and border from the driveway up to your front door, so the whole entry reads as one piece of work instead of patches.
Send the form and we'll get back to you within one business day. I come out, look at your driveway and how it drains, and give you a written price, free and with no obligation.
A rough length and width, or just how many cars it holds, helps me come ready to measure and talk through pavers and patterns that fit what you want to spend.
If puddles stay on the driveway or in the yard through a wet winter, point them out, because that tells me a lot about the base and drainage your job needs.
Let us know if an old concrete or asphalt driveway has to be torn out first, since removal is its own part of the job and its own line on the price.

Straight answers to what people ask before they put pavers down, from the price and the soil to who should do the work.
Sand-set concrete pavers with their base usually cost about $15 to $19 per square foot in Fresno, not counting removal of an old driveway. Tearing out the old one is extra, and a deeper base or drain pipe pushes the price up. I'll measure it on site and give you your price in writing.
Interlocking concrete pavers are the ones that hold up where cars drive or park, because thinner, larger paving slabs can flex and crack under a car. For steady car traffic, the paver industry recommends a herringbone pattern, a zigzag layout, since it gives the strongest interlock. You still get plenty of choice in color, size and border.
On some Fresno lots it's the biggest factor, because the Fresno soil type drains very slowly, small pools commonly sit through wet winters, and a hard cemented layer called hardpan typically lies about 24 inches down. The paver industry recommends drain pipe under driveways on slow-draining soil and says the small added cost comes back many times in longer driveway life.
There's no one depth, because the paver industry ties base thickness to traffic, soil type, how well the soil drains, moisture and climate. That means two driveways the same size can need different bases, depending on the ground under each. We settle the depth once we've seen your ground, and it's written into your price.
California's Contractors State License Board has a license class that covers laying paving and other surfacing materials, so paving is licensed work in this state. The paver industry group also recommends its Certified Concrete Paver Installers, who've completed training on paver methods and materials. We're licensed and insured, and our own crew does the work with a lead mason on site.
